Hi! I’m Jennifer.
I’m a Senior UX Designer who is passionate about innovation, simplicity, and empathizing with users. Most recently, I worked at JPMorgan Chase, where I designed internal products for the bank’s call center specialists and branch bankers.
I was exposed to the UX field when I did hands-on UX work as a product manager at several tech companies and realized it was my favorite part of the role. I was drawn to learning about users, ideating solutions, and designing mockups. I love the interdisciplinary nature of UX, and how it combines art, science, creative thinking, problem-solving, psychology, and research methods. After working PM roles and doing copywriting, I decided to make a switch to UX by taking an immersive program at General Assembly. View my professional history on LinkedIn.
Throughout my life, I’ve lived and traveled in multiple places— accumulating diverse experiences that helped me grow as a designer through awareness and empathy for others and the world. I was born in Shenyang, China, and immigrated to the United States when I was 4. Growing up, I’ve lived in 6 states across the American midwest and southwest, before going to college at Emory in Atlanta, spending several years in California, a bit of time in New York City, and now back to my middle & high school hometown of Houston, TX. I also love to travel internationally- I’ve visited North, South, & Central America, Asia, and Europe. My last long-term trip was backpacking in Peru and Colombia in 2018-2019 (see pictures below). My propensity for travel and exposure to different people and cultures helps me understand human nature and adds a unique perspective to my design process.
In personal service, the causes I particularly support are mental health awareness, diversity & inclusion, and sexual assault prevention & advocacy. I hope to make an impact and advocate for an equitable society for all. Likewise, I think accessibility, inclusivity, and cultural relevance are important in UX design, and I strive to reflect that in my work.
In my free time, you can find me doing hobbies such as writing and art, exploring locally wherever I live, trying new restaurants, activities, and destinations, or searching for my next adventure.
